Ontonagon Thieves Strike Again

The Ontonagon Flower Committee

Evidently the thief does not listen to the Jan Tucker Show....maybe they can read and will hopefully see and read this article.

For the second time this year thieves have stolen flowers from the downtown Ontonagon flower pots.

The stolen flowers were paid for by the Village of Ontonagon.......the residents.... You are stealing from  them and "yourself"  for your own self serving purposes.

Volunteers donated time, effort, and their own money to help make downtown Ontonagon look and feel special. You are ruining this. Stealing is a crime which has
punishments.

EDITORS NOTE:  Low life petty thieves are not confined to the Village of Ontonagon. This year for second year in a row, similar low life petty thieves have stolen flowers from the award winning Ironwood Pocket Park. These bottom feeders have no respect for the time, labor and money their fellow citizens donate to these worthwhile endeavors.
Road Project
Goes Forward
The Charter Township of Ironwood Board met in a regular session Monday afternoon and quickly dispensed with the two items of consequence on the meetings agenda.

First, the board discussed correspondence received from the Gogebic County Road Commission which dealt with the cost of summer road work. The board reluctantly postponed road work for Nyland Road until next year. This summer the board approved the repaving of Orchard Lane, which has already been pulverized and is ready for paving. The cost to blacktop the 3311 feet of Orchard Lane will be $42,500. The paving project was unanimously approved by the board.

In another action the board unanimously approved the creation of a Parks and Recreation advisory committee. The committee will be made up of interested residents.

Grandview Hospital
Landscape Improvement

This week Grandview Hospital Administrator, Carol Goffnet along with several Range Master Gardeners, replanted the flower beds in front of Grandview Hospital and the clinic. Each year the Master Gardeners replant the beds with fresh annual plants.  The construction of the hospital's planned new wing may leave the flower project on hold next summer. Master Gardener Chris Ainslie is the chairperson of the Grandview flower project.
