Linda Graham of Ontonagon gets up-close juggling demonstartion by Finladia students.
A large sculpture created from recycled printer paper greets visitors in the school's marble clad lobby.  The sculpture sets the stage for the wonderful exhibits and music visitors would experience this Sunday afternoon.
Finlandia University International School  of Art & Design hosted its first ever "Fusion Fest at the university's Portage Campus. There were food and vendor booths offering jewelry, fiber art and other arts and crafts for sale as well as several international food cuisines .
The day was filled with demonstrations and musical treats performed by local bands; Thimbleberry, Fiddlehead, Keeweenaw Brewgrass, Rhythem 203, Polka Drifters,  and The Jimmy Hats.
Students conducted tours of the art studios and classrooms. There were  demonstrations of silk screening, ceramics,  and weaving.

Fiber fabric senior Meagen Larson’s screen printing demonstration took on a real-world application — namely, preparing rows of T-shirts for The Jimmy Hats, a Finlandia band that played the festival’s concluding dance. Larson, who graduates this spring, has tentative plans for an internship in New York City over the summer. She hopes to follow that with a job with a design firm.
