Lukshaitis accused of Tampering

A May 2nd letter written by Mathew Lukshaitis, Superintendent of the O.A.S.D. to Mike Flanagan Superintendent of the M.D.E. was made public Wednesday in a letter to the editor of the Ontonagon Herald. The Letter written by former O.A.S.D Supt. Larry Ford. In his letter Mr. Ford accuses Lukshaitis of "Tampering in the business of a neighboring school district." In his letter to Flanagan, Lukshaitis complains about the E.T.C. school board rescinding 14 pink slips last month.
Mathew Lukshaitis insists that the state take over the E.T.C. School District.

On May 5th Lukshaitis' School Bond Proposal was soundly defeated 1027 to 175. On the same day, E.T.C. taxpayers said yes to two ballot initiatives. A headlee overide and a bond initiative for new school buses.

Ironwodinfo also contacted Bruce Mayle, Superintendent of the G.O.I.S.D. Mr. Mayle told us that he had heard about the Lukshaitis letter but, had he had not seen it. Mr. Mayle advised that he had no control over these situations and stays out of these issues.

For the information of our readers, in the past only one school district other than Detroit has been taken over by the state board.

The following is a copy of Ford's Letter to the editor. The portions typed in italics are excerpts of Mathew Lukshaitis'  letter to the State Board of Education.
