Civic Center Board Seeking Ideas
Ironwood - January 28, 2010
Last evening the Civic Center Board met with the City Commissioners in what described as a "workshop".

The entire membership of both groups were present, no absentees.

What a difference two years has made. The financial status of the venture has done a complete turnaround. In the past two years the board members have paid off nearly $100,000 in debt. The small remaining balance will be paid off next month
With the debt firmly under control the board can turn its attention to needed repairs and improvements at the "Pat".

The immediate focus is on enlarging the rear entry to the arena. The board wants to increase the number and variety of events at the center. The current service door is too small for the needs of many events. It was stated last night that a pickup truck can barely make it through the current entry. We have definitely lost possible events because of yjis situation.

Because of the fiscal turnaround and the opportunity to more things at the center, the board is asking the citizenry for suggestions as to what is wanted at the Pat. The group is primarily looking for non-ice events, however, they will be looking into changes in the refrigeration system that could bring summer ice events to the center.

The goal is to bring people to the area and to increase the civic centers revenues.

Following the workshop the Civic Center Board held its regular monthly meeting.

The Board created two new committees; 1) Maintenance and Capital Improvements and, 2) Promotion and Marketing

In addition to the board members on the committees, the Board is inviting the public at large to join.

What a difference two years can make!
