DIDA Approves Grant Application
Ironwood - The Downtown Ironwood Development Authority held a special meeting Wednesday to prepare the final Grant Application for the Downtown Blueprints Program.

On hand to answer any questions on the application was Cathi Cole.
Cathi Cole is from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.  Cathi is a Business Development Manager and Community Assistance Specialist. The MEDC is the Lansing group that wants to "confiscate" our Revolving Loan Fund.

There were very few questions or comments on the application which had been submitted once before. The MEDC removed three items from the request: $60,000 to purchase land from the Railroad, $50,000 for a sculpture, and $26,000 for Wrought Iron Banners. However, the $15,000 posts to mount the banners were approved.

An earlier request for a zillion dollar Library had been scratched.

It has been 10 months since we saw the original Frick and Frack Show marking the start of our downtown restoration project. Ten months and not much if anything to show for it.

The $600,000 grant if and when approved, will require a 10% minimum match by the city. HMMMM!
