IRONWOOD - The Polar Bears are packing them in at the Civic Center this weekend, as the District 8 Bantam B Tournament gets underway.

The action began at Noon Friday when the Copper Country Jr. Hockey Association team from Hancock took on and defeated the Firefighter's Local 643 from Marquette.
Teams from, Ironwood, Ontonagon, Hancock, Calumet, Marquette, Munising, Dickenson and Newberry will compete for the top spot and bragging rights for their district.
The action resumes Saturday when Munising takes on Ontonagon. The two teams will take to the ice at 10:00am (cst)
At 11:30am Ironwood will face off against Newberry. That game will be followed by a special presentation at center ice. The Polar Bears are scheduled to Pay Off the Loan on the Civic Center. The original loan was well over $100,000 and was due to be paid off several years from now. But, at noon Saturday, the kids will be presenting the city a check paying off the debt to the City of Ironwood.
The Tournament will resume at 1:30pm when the Copper Country Team take on Calumet. Then at 3:00pm Dickenson will face off against Marquette. At 5:00pm there will be a match up between Ontonagon and Ironwood. The Last Regular Game starts off at 6:30pm. When Newberry versus Munising.
Sunday the Championship will take place at 4:00pm. That game follows two semi-final games which occur at 9:00am and 10:30am
