IRONWOOD - Recently, Bob Jacquart played host to a group of
Finlandia University Art Students. Fabric Art Majors from
Finlandia’s School of Art and Design received a tour of the JFP
offices and factory.
Bob Jacquart, greeted the young
college students and Phyllis Fredendall, Associate Professor at
Finlandia University’s School of Art and Design, and then he
delivered an introduction and overview of his company, Jaquart
Fabric Products. Bob is Chairman of the Gogebic Community
College Board of Trustees. He is also on a board of business
advisors at NMU.
After getting the students settled in,
Bob took the Fabric Art majors on an all encompassing tour. They
began with the canvas room, where obviously canvas products are
manufactured. The artists were very interested in the facility’s
new photo imagery equipment that places potentially huge
photographs on even more huge canvas product. It was an enormous
inkjet printer so to speak, too big to fit in the average living
room. Wouldn’t we all like to have one! While in the canvas
room, the students also viewed the equipment used to sew or fuse
canvas material. They would again see similar equipment in other
JFP departments. Fusing plastic and vinyl materials is an
important function in Fabric Art.
