IRONWOOD - Saturday night was parent’s night at the Pat
O’Donnell Civic Center. There was open skating for the kids and
parents were admitted for a reduced fee.
The doors opened
at 6:00pm and within an hour the crowd began to swell. By 7:00
pm skaters were filing the benches putting on their skates and a
line began to form at the entrance. By that time the
lights had already dimmed on the ice and the mirrored globe was
swirling. Kids and parents enjoyed the evening skating to
music played by Joe Rimkus. Ironwood Plastics was
the main sponsor of the event. Other sponsors included Walmart,
Regoni’s, Red’s Auto and McDonalds.
The Civic Center
Board just recently paid off the remainder of its debt, and is
now looking into infrastructure changes that will enable more
varieties of events to hold at the Pat. There are two years
remaining on the Civic Center millage which will be used to make
needed infrastructure improvements. The Board is also looking
for suggestions from residents as to what kind of events they
would like to see at the Civic Center. If you have any ideas
which could improve the civic center or its usage call the city
office at 932-5050.
