The 2009 men's and women's cross country teams were both named Scholar
Teams by the NCAA Division II US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association.
The women's team, with a 3.59 cumulative team grade
point average, finished tied for 11th out of the 97 teams who received the
award. The women also finished second among the eight Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams to be honored.
The men's
team, with a 3.32 cumulative team grade point average, finished tied for
14th among the 62 men's teams honored. The men also finished second among
the seven GLIAC teams to win the award.
For a team to be considered
for the award, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA
regional championship and also have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
