Pisani Letter to City Council

Ladies and Gentlemen:
City Commissioners:
Members of the Planning Commission:
Park & Recreation Committee Members:

After serious deliberation on the proposal to purchase city owned
property at the intersection of Bonnie and Ayer Streets for a
storage facility. At this time I withdraw my intention of pursuing this business venture in the Cify of Ironwood. At my age, you have to allocate your time wisely.

The reasons for my change in mind is as follows:

Former city community development director - IVfu. Pat Merrill, recommended this property in May of 2007 .

This has been an on-going struggle. It has received approval to be put up for bids several times by the planning commission in the year 2007 and part of 2008.

It was then referred back to the parks and recreation committee or a hold was placed on the property. It has been over 2 years and still has not received final approval to be sold.

I was initially told that ALL city property that is sold as
commercial would have a 2-year provisionary clause for construction to be started or completed. I was then informed other parties could buy city owned property with no such clause that this is at the discretion of the city commission. It seems to me the city does not have one set standard for their rules & regulations pertaining to the sale of city owned property.

I am not against the proposed Miners Memorial Heritage Park. I have been told that I am holding up progress fcr the park becoming a reality. As I have stated previously, I am in favor of the park, but I do feel the property should be shared by thc 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, cross country skiers, mountain bikers, runners, and walkers. Each having their own easement for a trail system. I do highly recommend that the city retain 300 feet of land south of Ayer Street for future commercial or industrtal development.

I feel that when a person becomes a member of a committee or commission, he or she should place their personal agenda aside and vote for what is best for the city of Ironwood, and not only for themselves and their personal gain.

I only hope that in the future, persons wanting to purchase city
property, start a business, or try to generate tax dollars in any other way - will not be met with such conflict and opposition as I have faced over the last 2+ years.

I would like to thank the members of the City Commission,Planning Commission, and Park & Recreation Committee that supported my plan for this project to become a reality.
