Citizens Support Ironwood Police Officers
More than a hundred taxpayers and other concerned citizens joined the eleven Ironwood Police Officers holding an Informational Picket in front of the Memorial Building The police officers were there to tell the public about the situation they face in their negotiations with the city's attorney and city manager. The Ironwood Professional Police Association has been working without a collective bargaining agreement since April 1, 2007.

According to the IPPA the city representatives are not bargaining in good faith. Mike Rimkus, President of Ironwood's Professional Police Association garnered a great deal of support in his efforts to inform the public about his plight in dealing with the unyielding attorneys who oppose a settlement in the negotiations. The city attorney, Dennis Cossi is being paid $100. + per hour by the Noren Government to oppose the members of the Safety Department.

During the informational picket, the local IPPA members were joined by supporters who carried signs viewed by passerbys. It was quite evident that those citizens passing by also supported the IPPA position. The vast majority of those driving by either blew their horns, waved or gave a thumbs up to their fellow citizens on the picket line.

(photo above)Mike Rimkus was interviewed by Marui Mapp of WLUCTV6, Marquette, that interview can be seen in its entirety Tuesday evening. Rimcus was also interviewed by local reporters from FOX21(photo above), Duluth. That interview aired on the late news this evening. The Daily Globe sent reporter Erik Sharp to cover the event. Also at the scene was Steve Frank and Jim Albert of the Superior chronicle Arvo Toolanen and Lou Bonagura (IronwoodInfo)

In spite of the city's failure to bargain in good faith, Rimkus advises that "meaningful negotiations and a voluntary settlement remain the priority of the Ironwood Professional Police Association." The Ironwood Police Officers want the public to know that they will always be there to Protect and to Serve.

None of the city commissioners, the city manager nor their representatives were available for the interviews as Bruce Noren and his unfriendly friend$ sneaked into the building to avoid detection. It was learned that the city will publish a statement through the globe, a paper controlled by the Noren government through the spending of thousands of taxpayer's dollars in globe advertising.

IronwoodInfo will issue an editorial statement following any intelligible statement offered by Noren, if he makes one. In the past, Noren has told this writer personally that "he never puts anything writing." If he writes as he speaks we don't blame him. He's a modest little man with much to be modest about.

Attempts to interview the elusive Noren were unsuccessful.
