Saturday morning people all across America and our region would
be waking to day of celebration and commemoration of our nation's
233rd birthday. The kids in Gogebic would be no exception. They too
would be rising early to prepare their costumes and other items for
the Annual Wakefield Kids Parade. Earlier yet would be the adults
who would placing their chairs and blankets along the parade route,
assuring themselves a good vantage point from which to view the
parade. Shortly before 1:00pm, the streets would fill with with
crowds of people who had come to entertained by the kids parading.
The kids had gathered at the fire station and they were ready. The
parade started promptly and the kids were on the march. There were
no bands, cars, trucks or large floats. Just kids in costumes,
trikes and bikes and of course dogs. It seem as though our canine
friends enjoy the festivities as much as we do.
Once again a successful parade where the kids would march down to
the park where games and amusements were waiting for them. |
