GCC PRESIDENT LORENSON CHOSEN FOR NATIONAL COMMISSION
IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - Gogebic Community College President James Lorenson has been selected to serve on the Commission on Research, Technology & Emerging Trends for the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). The commission acts in an advisory capacity to the AACC Board of Directors in the Association’s work on behalf of its member colleges.

“One of my greatest honors as Board Chair-elect of the American Association of Community Colleges is to recognize leaders among AACC member CEOs and ask them to serve in leadership roles as members of an AACC Commission,” said John Sygielski, AACC Board Chair in his letter of nomination to Lorenson. “This is a very challenging time for community colleges, and your service as a commissioner can benefit not only your national Association, but also your fellow institutions.”

Topics to be addressed in Lorenson’s three-year term on the commission include the changing role of federal, state, and local governments in community colleges, new technologies for teaching, national curriculum standards, student population changes, changes in accountability requirements and reporting burdens, and more.
