This week students and parents were invited to an open house at Bessemer's Washington School.

The halls were filled with cheerful signs welcoming the students back to school for the 2010/2011 school year.

The hall walls at Washington School are usually, if not always covered with cheerful materials reflecting the kid friendly atmosphere of the school.

Each teacher had a sign that was age appropriate for their students. My favorite was the sign that greets second graders at Mrs. Maki-Delbec's room, it reads "Really good learning happens here!"

Mrs. Beal gave the parents a brief orientation and answered any questions that the parents may have asked. While Mrs. Beals' sign says Welcome we know it too could read "Really good learning happens here!"
