Township Board To Consider Economic Development Loan
IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - The Township Board of Trustees held their first September meeting yesterday.

On the agenda was a change order for the Lake Road Sewer project. Marv Winberg, the project engineer was at the meeting to describe the change order. This order was necessary for bringing the accounting up tod ate and permit the USDA to release funds due to contractors. For the Township it meant a reduction in expenditures for the project. While there were a couple of items that did increase, there were many small items that decreased; the end result being a $250,000 in the contingency fund.
Kim Mattson reported that Greenbush has had the first layer of paving installed and that the second layer will be paved on Wednesday and Thursday.

Former EDC Director Donna Scorce made a personal appearance at yesterday’s meeting. Donna addressed the Board of Trustees on the matter of an Economic Development Loan. The Board had previously stated its desire to help advance Economic Development in the Township. Scorce stated that she had a client, two women that were seeking to open up a daycare or infant care business. They are seeking to buy a building behind K-Mart for the enterprise.

Both individuals are currently in the business of child care, one as an administrator and the other a CFO. Together they have a combined twenty years of experience in the business. They will be seeking a $50,000 loan.
The trustees agreed to look at the request, but prefer that the process begin in committee and then forwarded to the Board with a recommendation.

In other business, the Trustees opened bids for the management of the timber harvesting plan. Three bids were received. Unfortunately one bid from James Lynn was on a per acre basis and not a flat bid based on the entire project. The other two entities biding on the Project was Rachel Peterson and Green Timber Consulting.

The Board voted to table the matter pending a review and a like kind comparison of the bids.
