The students were divided into five groups. Each group would learn something different about the forest.

Michelle Miller instructed the only Kindergarten student present. The subject “Wildlife is Everywhere”. The class would search the forest for signs of wild animals and discuss how the forest meets the needs of wild animals. The needs and lives of wild animals were compared to those of domestic animals.
Joan Chadde instructed the first grade students on leaves. The students collected and compared leaves and went on a leaf hunt.
Beth Squires instructed the second graders on Wild Animal Survival. The students were instructed on the needs of animals, and how animals adapt to their habitat.
Steve Kickert instructed the largest group, the Norrie third and fourth grade students. Steve instructed the students on Tree Identification.
The students were given leaf and needle samples. They then viewed the description boards that encircled the group. Each board either confirmed the students choice or sent them on to another board.

The fifth and sixth graders went on a worm hunt with Sue Trull; searching the forest floor for what are now considered invasive wildlife.
Bruce Kerkove, Norrie Principal and Mrs. Kerkove were the hosts for the evening. When the students finished their evening of learning and fun they were treated to refreshments.
