G.C.C. Hosts College Day 2010
IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - Area High School Students had an opportunity to get first hand information about potential colleges to attend after graduation. Monday Gogebic Community College hosted the 2010 Michigan Education Fair, an event that brought representatives from forty colleges and universities under one roof for the convenience of both the students and the colleges.
In addition to the colleges and universities there were representatives from the military on hand to discuss possible military careers and other military opportunities. Pictured above, Sgt. Hall, who told us that graduates from G.C.C. with Associates Degrees would gain two ranks upon listing in the Army.
While the representatives of the schools came loaded with information including possible financing opportunities, the expo did have a financial aid booth where students could discuss their needs more directly.
 
Students were able to meet and talk to counselors from every type and size of institution imaginable. There colleges and universities represented ran from “A” for Adrian College all the way to “W” for Wisconsin Indianhead Tech. Michigan Tech, NMU, U of Michigan were all there as well as Finlandia, Great lakes Christian, Sienna Heights University and many, many more.

Of course, for many of our local area students who would like to hang close to home for a while longer or for out of the area students looking for great school with niche programs there is Gogebic Community College. Representatives of GCC were also at “College Day” to provide information needed to make informative decisions. On hand for GCC were: Director of Admissions & Public Information Jeanne Graham (above left), Admissions Recruiter Kim Zeckovich (above right)and representing the Cosmology Program was Laura Erickson, pictured below.
