September GCC Board of Trustees Meeting |
|
IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - At last night’s regular meeting of the Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees, the Board reviewed a draft of the annual goals for the 2010/11 academic year. The goals include a number of initiatives including the review and modification of processes and practices to better ensure student success; also, the standardization of institutional branding, the completion and publishing of the emergency management procedures manual, consideration of new and revised programs and services, among others. In other action, the Board granted approval to seek proposals for the installation of a back-up generator for the Solin Business Center on campus. The Solin Center houses Information Technology Services on campus and currently has back-up services for approximately 10-15 minutes with battery reserve units. The back-up generator will secure operations of instructional, administrative, and the college notification system in the event of a power outage. Also approved was a bid for a heavy-duty press for the Automotive Technology program from General Trading Company, Inc. of Ironwood. Due to the increase in enrollment at GCC’s off campus facility in Houghton, the Board approved upgrading the secretarial position at that facility to full time status.
