Finlandia Business School Adds New Majors |
|
HANCOCK, MI – The Finlandia University International School of
Business (ISB) has added two options to its bachelor of business
administration (BBA) degree.
First, the Finlandia University International School of Business and Finlandia’s International School of Art & Design have combined their resources to offer a BBA in Arts Management. The new BBA-Arts Management is designed to build fundamental business skills and explore the arts background needed to pursue administrative or management careers in art-related enterprises (e.g., galleries, studios, theaters, etc.). The BBA-Arts Management requires successful completion of Finlandia’s general education core of classes, the 42-credit BBA core (required of all BBA students), 18 to 21 credits of free electives, and a 22-credit concentration composed of appropriate courses in art, design, and business. The Arts Management major begins in the Fall 2011 semester. In the interim, students interested in pursuing this option may contact Terry Monson, dean of the International School of Business, for advice on course selection. Second, the 2+2 BBA degree program in Applied Management is an option for students who have already completed an associate degree in a professional field. The BBA-Applied Management is designed to complement the student’s previous professional studies, expanding career options to include administrative- or management-related employment. Prerequisites for the BBA-2+2 include completion of 30 or more credit hours of study in a “professional concentration” representing the student’s associate degree major field. To be awarded the BBA-2+2, students must successfully complete Finlandia’s 40-credit general education requirements (via transfer credit, courses already taken at Finlandia, and/or completion of additional Finlandia courses), and the 42-credit BBA core of classes. In all, the BBA-2+2 requires the successful completion of 124 credits, including transfer credits, at least 30 of which must be numbered at the 300 or 400 level. For students who have been awarded an associate degree at Finlandia, the BBA-2+2 will typically require completion of an additional 60 to 63 credits, including 18 to 21 credits of general education courses and the 42-credit BBA core. Transfer students with an associate degree may need to complete additional coursework to satisfy Finlandia’s general education requirements. Students may begin the Finlandia University BBA-2+2 degree immediately. For additional information about the Finlandia University International School of Business BBA in Arts Management and 2+2 Applied Management BBA, contact ISB dean Terry Monson at 906-487-7338 or terry.monson@finlandia.edu.
