Yoopers Tour Finland
Twenty seven U.P. residents recently returned home after touring Finland for eleven days.

The tour took place from September 14th to September 25th. During that time the tour group toured Helsinki-Kuopio-Jyväskylä-Kokkola-Vaasa-Turku and back to Helsinki.

Tanja Stanaway told us that she had 26 people with her on the “Heart to Finland Tour”.

This was Tanja’s first tour to Finland and stated “I may be having another tour next fall, because so many said that they want to travel again”.

Many of the people on this tour were in Finland for the first time and I believe they got a good picture of the beautiful country.

There were a few people in the tour that are former Ironwood residents, and also one that lives in Ironwood now.

Stanaway is from Kokkola, Finland and came to U.S. in 1972. She has taught Finnish for 30 years in the Ishpeming-Negaunee area and some of the tour participants are her students.
