E-T.C. Hosts Health Expo
The Ewen - Trout Creek School hosted a countywide Health Expo This past week. The event was organized by Pam Bessonen.

The Expo also included a Blood Drive and the Upper Peninsula Blood Center Blood-Mobile was on hand seeking for donors. Isn’t there something spooky about, blood, blood mobiles two days prior to Halloween, or am I just Paranoid? Is there really such a thing as a Vampire? I just saw one or two at the Watersmeet School!

The Expo provided some screening for blood pressure and blood sugar and a great deal of information about health and safety issues. Also available at the Expo visitors could get their flu shots, the charge was $25 and was free to Medicare and Medicaid patients.

Ewen has its own health and dental clinic, Ewen Medical-Dental Center. The center is funded through a federal grant. Patients are billed on their ability to pay. Pictured above is Rebbekkah Marasco, FNP-C. Rebbekkah was providing the Flu Immunization Shots.

Standing to Rebbekkah’s left is Maggi Brown, who is the High School’s Secretary and the school's Go To Person.

Tastefully Simple, from Bruce Crossing was offering low-salt seasons for your food. The sales person for Tastefully Simple will be at the Women’s Expo in Ironwood Township on November 6th. We were also told that Brambleberry at Bruce Crossing will be having an open house on November 13th in time for your holiday shopping.
Officer William Witt from the Michigan State Police was present at the expo, also expressing a need for proper and legal children’s car safety  seats. There is a proper seat for your child and the Michigan State Police are available to assist you when needed. Officer Witt is located in South Ontonagon County and is attached (or detached) from the Wakefield Post. In Ontonagon County you may also contact the County Under-Sheriff for assistance.

Officer Witt also told me that there assistance available for families that cannot afford a legal and proper child safety seat.
Home care networks Horizon Home Care and Aspirus-Superior Home Health & Hospice were on hand to provide information pertaining to their health services.
Members of Sonoco Ambulance Service were present providing blood pressure screening and to provide materials pertaining to safety issues as well as health care. High on the list is bicycle safety and child automobile seating.
