Road Plan Still Flexible

The Township Board of Trustees reviewed the Township five year road plan at its last Board meeting. The plan is updated each year based on road needs and budgetary considerations.

In 2010 the Township completed work on Bluffview Road. The 2,660 foot section of road was blacktopped at accost of 85,750. Half of that amount $42,875 will be paid by the County and the other $42,875 will be paid for by the Township.

Scheduled for 2011 Nylund Road from Junet to Vanderhagen will be pulverized and blacktopped. The total cost to the County and the Township is estimated to be $158,455.

The plan for 2012 is to blacktop 1/3 mile of Welch Creek Rd, and to chip seal the road to Copper Peak. The project will depend on whether or not a grant application is successful. Hannu Road is another question mark for 2012. The 1.5 mile project is planned for 2012 and for 2013 That project that is estimated to cost over $200,000 will be dependent on whether or not Ruotsala Construction moves its heavy equipment to another location.

2014 and 2015 plans are to pulverize and blacktop portions of Vanderhagen and Section 12 roads.

The Township has completed a Paser Road Rating Survey on the Township roads and the five year plan was developed based on that survey.
