Finlandia’s Mikko Malminen named to 2010 WIAC Men’s Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team


Hancock, MI. - November 11, 2010: One member of the Finlandia University Men’s Soccer team was honored today by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Mikko Malminen was named to the 5 member All-Sportsmanship Team for the 2010 season.
Malminen, a freshman Finnish exchange student from Hyvinkaa, Finland was honored for his exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. He started 11 games overall, including one game in goal. He finished fifth on the team in shots taken and compiled a 0-1-0 record as goalie with a .462 saves percentage.
“Mikko demonstrated tremendous character and personal integrity every time he stepped onto the field, whether for a practice or a game,” said Lions head coach Chris Perez. “His attitude towards teammates and opponents alike was always positive and helpful.”
