Township Moves Forward With Master Plan

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - Members of the Ironwood Township Board met Thursday evening and continued their work on the new Township Master Plan.

The group was slowed by the misconception that the Township’s Code of Ordinances should be a part of the master Plan. Once it was determined the planners began to review and analyze the current Master Plan. After removing much of the verbiage in the old plan the group decided to quit for the night, go home and review the Master Plan Guidelines that are on the Michigan Township Assn. website. The Planning board will meet again to continue working on the plan.

The Township Clerk , Gayla Salmi announced that a letter from the Township attorney had been received regarding the appeal made by Snow Country Contracting regarding the denial of a condition use permit for the Gravel Pit on North Star Road. The notices for a Special meeting of the Township Board of Trustees have been sent out and the meeting will take place on Monday December 6th.

The planning board members passed a resolution that set four meeting dates for 2011. These four dates are the minimum number of meetings that the Board must hold next year. It does not limit the number of meetings and it is likely that more meetings will be held.
