Bessemer school District Considers Land Deal

BESSEMER - The Bessemer School Board last night approved the resignation of Lori Hendges as the Junior High Student Council Advisor. Ms. Hendges will be remaining with the District in her many other capacities. In addition to her role as Senior High Student Councilor Lori is the coach of the Jr. High Quiz Bowl Team.

The Board approved the posting for a replacement for the Junior High Student Council Advisor position.

In other personnel matters, the board members approved the hiring of Ms. Jennifer Wroblewski as the A.D. Johnson, Junior/Senior High School Yearbook Advisor.
 
Mr. Alex Metas was hired as the seventh grade boy’s basketball coach. There have been approximately twice as many boys signing on for the seventh grade team.
The district voted to retain John Hellman and Sons for snowplowing 2010-2011 school year. Hellman will be doing the plowing for the same fee as last year.

The board discussed the possible acquisition of property from Saint Sebastian’s Church. The property consisting of six lots is located on Cinnebar Street. The board referred the matter to the buildings and grounds committee for further consideration. That Committee is scheduled to meet today, Tuesday November 23, 2010.

The board’s final action item for the evening was to reschedule the April 2011 meeting date. The original date, April 25, 2011 falls on Easter Monday,; a day when the school will be closed. The board members approved a motion to move the date to April 18, 2011.
