GLYD Celebrates SOSY Program Success

IRONWOOD - Last week, local participants in the Great Lakes Youth Development SOSY program received Certificates for their participation.
The meeting at the Grand View Hospital was a Celebration of the programs large success.

Administrators for area non-profit organizations received certificates for the many hours of their participation in regional training workshops. The $315,00 project was designed to provide training that would help non-profits be successful and sustainability. The Grant money was used in a manner similar to an incubator program for small, for-profit businesses.

The evening was a celebration in honor of all the hard work SOSY Program organizations throughout the U.P. have been doing to strengthen nonprofits. Other similar celebrations took place in Hancock, Escanaba, Marquette and Sault Ste. Marie starting today, December 1.

Betsy Wesselhoft, the chairperson for the Gogebic and Ontonagon Chapter of the GLYD, presented to the Certificates to: Elaine Erickson, Lynne Wiercinski, Barb Braithwaite, and Aaron Ruotsala.
Barb Braithwaite describes how the program assisted the Friends of the Porkies organization. Another Friend of the Porkies attending the meeting was Deb Jesek.
above Aaron Ruotsala discusses the Angel Network. Aaron read a letter written to a young three year old who is fighting cancer. The letter was written by a ten year old boy. Another letter from the mother of the girl written to thank the boy who authored the lettre.
