GCC Cross Country at Warhawk
Press Release

The Gogebic Community College cross-country running team fared well in the Warhawk Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday. The Samson's first three finishers were just three seconds apart, with Dominic Beckman finishing the 8k course in 31:42, Ryan Goings in 31:43 and Kyle Pallin in 31:45. Gogebic's Lucas Scherer finished in 32:10, Kyle Weber in 32:41 , Mike Gering in 36:51 and Sam Kolesar in 36:55. "I was very pleased with how well they ran this weekend," said Coach Will Andresen. "To have our top three finishers so close and our top five runners finish within one minute of each other shows the depth of our team". In the women's 6k, Gogebic's Kari Strand finished in 29:01.

Andresen noted that three Gogebic runners set career personal records, including Kyle Pallin, Ryan Goings and Kyle Weber. "Kari (Strand) ran well, considering she's coming off of a week of illness. Mike (Gering)had a season record, besting his previous time by almost a minute. And Sam (Kolesar) put in a solid performance in his first collegiate race."

After a week off, Gogebic travels to Ashland on October 2nd to participate in the Northland College Invitational.
