The Polar Bear Squirts (9 and 10 year olds)
posted two wins against Keweenaw Bay yesterday at the Patrick
O’Donnell Civic Center. The Squirts won the first game 9-1.
Ironwood scored four unanswered points in the first period,
and two more points in the second period. Keweenaw scored
one point to open the third period and that would be the last
point that they would score for the day. The Squirts went on to
score three more points and close out the game 9-1. In the
second game the Squirts would shutout their opponents Nine zip.
Matthew Clemens made 12 saves on 13
shots with 1 shutout.
Goals were scored by Tyler Morrison
(6) , Ethan Roehm (5) ,Caleb Baxter and Brett Heil each with 2
goals, Travis Collins, Hanna Koivisto, Sydnee Lorenson, Nathan
Garnell each with 1 goal each. Assists were tallied by Roehm (4)
,Heil (3), Morrison, Garnell,Tommy Lundin, and C.J Sorensen each
with 2 assists, Baxter, Lorenson, and David Collins each with 1
assist. " The kids played really well their passing has really
come along." said coach Scott Kellett.
