Women's Basketball Takes Hold of Region's Top Spot`

by Wes Frahm, director of athletic communications and marketing

The women's basketball team has moved into the top spot in the latest edition of the NCAA Midwest Region Rankings, which is used to determine the teams that make up the NCAA Tournament.

The Huskies, which had been No. 2 in each of the previous editions of the rankings, moved ahead of previous No. 1 Quincy.

Tech finished No. 1 in last year's region rankings and were awarded the right to host the eight-team regional.

One more edition of the rankings will be released next Wednesday, March 2. The NCAA will then announce its field of teams during a webcast Sunday, March 6, on NCAA.com.

Michigan Tech wraps up its regular season this week with Northwood on Saturday, February 26.
