Student Recognition Ceremony at GCC

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - May 2, 2011

Thursday, April 28, 2011, Gogebic Community College held a Student Recognition Ceremony to recognized GCC students for their work inside and outside the classroom.

Interim Dean of Students Jeanne Graham, pictured above, welcomed the largest audience ever to attend the event. In thanking everyone for attending Graham noted how busy everyone is studying for finals and getting their final papers done and all the things that keep students busy at this time of the year.

“Today was a time to look back, reflect upon and recognize all the accomplishments that so many of you have made over the past year or two” said Graham. “Each of you who received a personal invitation to be here are being recognized for contributions both inside and outside the classroom, and for your dedication to excellence. We commend you for your efforts”

The first students to be recognized were two special groups of students. Students who in the face of many competing interests, their good days and their not so good days,  who have been consistently been able to perform with academic excellence and will be graduating in a couple short weeks with the distinction of academic honors, Graham noted.

Students graduating with honors must be graduating with an Associate’s Degree and must have completed at least thirty of their credits at GCC.

The first group honored were those students that received Honors Recognition, a GPA of 3.5 to 3.74.
