Washington School 2011 Spring Concert

BESSEMER – May 31, 2011

Last Friday Washington School was once again the scene of a wonder concert. Directed by Lowell Roderick, the P-K through Sixth grade students treated their community to another entertaining spring concert.

In years past the school’s gymnasium had been absolutely packed with friends and family attending the concerts. Last year the line of people wanting to see and hear the concert overflowed the gym and stretched out into the hallways.

This year Director Roderick decided to have two concerts one in the morning and another one in the afternoon.

Regardless of the number of performances the result was the same, lots of people and lots of wonderful music. The kids were terrific, their performances were great, and they, as well as their audience had a great time.

Roderick does a wonderful job getting the most and the best from his young students.

Then the Second Grade singers performed “The Blues” and “Joy”.

Next on stage were the Third Grade students who sang “Helping Each Other” and “”It’s My Life”.

The Sixth Grade Students then performed “I got A Feelin’” The gymnasium was then darkened and the students sang “We are the World”

The Fourth Grade then took the stage and sang two songs, ‘I Think I’ll Think Twice” and “Twing That Thing”

Concluding the Spring Concert were the Fifth Grade singers who performed “Lean On Me/Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Hoedown Throw Down”

As they say “All good things must come to an end” and such was the case with this wonderful concert. It was a really entertaining morning and as usual Mr. Roderick and the kids did a great job.
