IRONWOOD – June 2, 2011
Friends and coworkers filled the Women’s Club Room at
the Memorial Building Tuesday afternoon when they
gathered to celebrate the retirement of two long time
City Employees.
Jane Bowman the Assistant Community Development Director
is retiring after 27 years of employment. Joe Magdziak
has worked for Ironwood for 38 years, and has served in
many capacities during that time.
Working for DPW, Joe will be best remembered for his
ability to get things done, especially in way that
satisfied most people most of the time. He has the
ability to see all sides of a situation and get the job
done in the best possible way. |

Jane, pictured above with her husband Mark, has worked for six Community Development Directors
while with the city. During her tenure, Bowman has
generated over six million dollars in federal grant
revenues. According to City Manager Scott Erickson,
Bowman was responsible for the home improvements in 345
houses. “That is over 10% of the city’s housing stock.”
Said Erickson.
Erickson told the audience that Jane was a huge asset to
the city, and had improved the lives of many people in
many city neighborhoods, providing better homes in which
to live. |
