Goldenaires Perform At Relay For Life
IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP – June 13, 2011

Marty’s Goldenaires made their 2011 debut at the Relay for Life Friday night. The U.P’s favorite Drum and Bugle Corps had a terrific start after the winter recess. For the first outing of the year they played exceptionally well. No there’s no truth to the rumor that they secretly practiced this winter in Florida.

The group entered the parking area in the middle of the Relay walking track where they entertained a large audience of fans gathered at the college.
The Corps played the National Anthem several more patriotic songs, including, America, God Bless America, Green Berets. They played the Beer Barrel Polka a crowd favorite as was In the Mood.

Other songs performed Saturday evening were Sweet Caroline and California Dreaming. The Goldenaires performed their traditional Military Medley, saluting the branches of the armed forces.
Michigan’s oldest Drum and Bugle Corps’ net performance is Friday June when they will march in the 17th Bridgefest Parade in Houghton/Hancock.
 
Sunday, June 26th at 1:00pm the Goldenaires will play at the Musky Festival in Hayward.

The Corps will perform three times on the Fourth of July, in Marenisco at 11:00 AM, in Wakefield at 1:00 PM and Bessemer at 7:00 PM.
