Hurley Approves First Payment on
2011 Utility Improvements
HURLEY - June 15, 2011
At last night’s Finance
Committee meeting MSA Project Manager, Jeff Seaman
reported on the 2011 Utility Improvements.
The project includes five city blocks of sewer, water
main, storm sewer and roadway reconstruction.
The work began May 16th shortly after the road limits
were lifted. A-1 Excavating began construction on Maple
Street from 1st to 5th Avenue. Seaman’s report stated
that A1 had completed the pipe work on the two blocks
and is in the process of rebuilding the roadway.
Once the roadway is rebuilt through gravel the
contractor will complete the pipe work on Oak and Poplar
Streets.
The contract amount is $604,544.43. The contractor has
approximately 70 days to complete the project with final
completion in August, 2011.
The Finance Committee recommended that the city approve
Pay Request #1 from A-I Excavating in the amount of
$85,513.25 for the 2011 Utility Improvements. The City
Council approved the request at their meeting later in
the evening.
According to MSA’s report, the combination of the
Commerce Demonstration Grant and the Section 154
Environmental Grant will fund 100% of the project. The
cost of engineering services is also 100% grant funded.
