Monday night the Bessemer City Council approved a  $57,000 USDA loan for reroofing the Fire Hall.

City Manager Tom Chatel told the council that the city was covering up a $200,000 piece of fire fighting equipment with a tarp because the roof leaks.

“I don't understand why we would want to pay 20-40 years on a 57,000 loan” said councilman Al Gaiss. Paying 3000 per year we'll be repaying 120,000 on such a small loan.

A discussion focusing on the length of the loan ensued and was concluded by the council approving the loan resolution.
The interest on the loan will be at an annual rate of 4.25%. Chatel told the council that there was still more paper to be moved in regards to the loan.

In other action the council approved paying ABR, Inc $650 for clearing a portion of a hiking trail.
