Commission Receives Road Projects
Update |
|
BESSEMER - June 24, 2011 Darren Pionk, engineer
for the county road commission gave a brief report to
the County Commission Wednesday. Pionk told the
commissioners that the road work is near completion or
completed on the east side of the county.
The big work on the west side of the county, between
Ironwood Township and Wakefield will begin July 11, with
the pulverizing of roads. We're completing all culvert
work now so that we won't be waiting on that” said Pionk.
"We're planning on having all the construction completed
by end of July" he told the commission.
Pionk also told the commissioners that the county has to
preserve its investment in the roads, and as part of the
maintenance of that investment, the road commission will
be chip sealing roads this summer. “We're at the point
where we have to save the investment we have.” Black
River Road will be chipped sealed through RAC money
appropriated for that project. (see below)
Other projects in Bessemer and Ironwood Township will
also be worked on this summer. |
The Commission also received a letter from Randel D.
Charles, the staff officer for the Ottawa Forrest. In
his letter to the Commissioners Charles described
projects funded by the RAC for county projects for the
2010 and 2011 fiscal years. |
