The Festival Ironwood event
officially opened Thursday.
Questionable weather moved the opening ceremonies to
dry ground under the big tent.
The American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard presented the
colors and Legionnaire Bob Canon sang the National
Anthem.
The fun immediately began for the kids gathered to
launch their attack at the duck pick. After launching
hundreds of little yellow duckies into the new and
larger pool, kids were lining up to take their chance at
fishing out a prize.
The line at the prize tent went on for hours.
The
kids weren't the only ones enjoying the festival
opening.
Richie Yurkovich and Polkariety took over the stage and
provided music for the Festival patrons eager to dance
to the popular music group.
Later in the evening, the dance floor would be turned
over to teen set. Teenagers from as far away as
Watersmeet came to the festival for the evening
festivities.
Tomorrow the festival will be in full swing with a
long day of events that will please all age groups. On
