The Ironwood Township Board of Trustees received a
clean audit yesterday when Auditor Tony Pollack
presented the results of the latest fiscal audit.
According to Pollack the Township added slightly more
than $2,000 to the General Fund. This is the third year
in a row that the charter Township has received an
excellent audit.
The only area of concern was that the Township’s
Wastewater rates may need to be increased. The concern
was expressed by Duane Reid, Specialist for the USDA
Rural Development. According to Pollack, Reid had
already received a copy of the audit and in turn
contacted Pollack discussing the ratios needed to meet
the bonding requirements.
Otherwise, the audit was good.
Township Attorney Mark McDonald appeared at the meeting
to discuss what he termed the Township’s Dilemma with
the trailer park on Lake Road. The Township has
purchased the park, however, for trailer owners have yet
to remove their trailers. A few have signed over the
trailers to the Township and those can be disposed of,
however, many remain. Of those remaining approximately
half have not responded to requests to vacate the park.
The others belong to people who stated that they would
remove them, but have not done so.
The Township board has requested that owners again be
notified, and that appraisals be acquired for the
trailers before they are sold for salvage.
