Independence Day celebrations OTHER TOWNS

DescriptionThe following events have been scheduled to celebrate our
nation's independence: Ahmeek: The Village of Ahmeek will celebrate the 4th
of July on Saturday, July 4th beginning with the bicycle parade at 11:00,
followed by activities and concessions at the Gabe Chopp Park. There will be
children's games, a penny toss, watermelon eating contest, raffle drawing,
bingo, food and refreshments and live music. Baraga: See independent
calendar entry for Lumberjack Days. Copper Harbor: The community of Copper
Harbor will hold its annual 4th of July parade at 10:00 on Saturday, July
4th. Children's games will be held in the schoolyard at 1:00. Food and
refreshments will be available in the Grant Township Park. The fireworks
display begins at dusk on the waterfront. Covington: Covington will hold its
celebration on Friday, July 3rd, beginning with a flag rasing at 1:00 at the
Pavilion. Activities through the afternoon will include Bounce n'Fun rides
for the kids, a Bike Parade at 2:00, and a watermelon eating contest at
3:30. Live music will be provided by the Billy Butcher Bayou Band from 1:30
until 4:30, and Black Pearl from 5:00 until dusk. The fireworks display will
begin at dark. Dollar Bay: The community of Dollar Bay starts off its
celebration on Friday, July 3rd, with free horse and wagon rides at 6:30 and
a street dance at Pioneer Park at 7:30. Snacks and refreshments will be
available at the fire department stand at the fire hall. |

Family Ministries will perform at 2:00 at Pioneer Park. The snack and
refreshment stand, the pasty sale and the chicken Bar-B-Q all openat 10:30.
Gay: The community of Gay will hold its 28th Annual Parade at 2:00 on
Saturday, July 4th, with a Bazaar/Rummage Sale/Raffle/Social Hour at the Gay
Community Hall from noon to 4:00. The Gay Fire Department will have hot
dogs, liquid refreshments and a raffle on the Gay School grounds from noon
to 3:00. Lake Linden: The Village of Lake Linden will hold their fireworks
display on Friday, July 3 at dusk in the village park. Live music, food and
refreshments will be available in the park from 6:30 to 10:30. On Saturday,
July 4th, there will be a parade at 9:30, with live music, activities,
games, food and refreshments at the Park throughout the day. The Children's
Parade begins at 6:30 and there will be a street dance at the Lakes Lounge
Saturday evening. Mohawk: The community of Mohawk will begin its celebration
on the 4th of July with a flag raising at 10:00 at the Allouez Township
Park, followed by the children's parade at 10:30. There will be children's
games, food and treats in the park at 11:30 and bingo at 12:30. South Range:
The Village of South Range begins its 4th of July Celebration with a flag
raising at the Community Building at 8:00. Children's races begin at noon at
the Range Veterans Memorial Park, with Trolley Rides available from 1:00
until 4:00. The parade starts at 2:30 on Main Street, followed by children's
games in the park and a classic car show. Food and refreshments will be
available throughout the day at the park. The fireworks begin at dusk at the
Range Veterans Memorial Park. Twin Lakes: See the independent calendar entry
for the Lighted Boat Parade. White Pine: The White Pine parade begins at the
White Pine Recreation Center, with registration from 10:00 until 11:00, and
the parade starting at 11:00. At the White Pine American Legion, there will
be kids' games from 11:30 to 1:30, Bingo form 1:00 to 3:00, and food from
Noon to 3:00. Evening activities will include a family fun night, with
fireworks at dusk,and entertainment following the fireworks.

WhereChurning Rapids Trails, Hancock, MI (map)
DescriptionThe Horse Trail Scramble Trail Run and Fitness Walk will take
place at Churning Rapids Trails at 53044 Hwy M-203, 4.5 miles past Hancock
Beach on M-203 towards McLain State Park. Challenge the 10k Trail Run or
enjoy a leisurely 5k Fitness Walk. The event will be held in conjunction
with the annual 4th of July Celebration at Churning Rapids. Scramblers are
invited to join the music, feast and festivities following the Scramble
(please bring a dish to share and a place setting if you are staying). There
is no entry fee but donations are welcome and will go to the Keweenaw Land
Trust's Land Stewardship Fund. If you have any questions, please call Terry
