Saturday festivities began with the Heikinpäivä "Tori"
(Marketplace). The Market includes, ethnic crafts, music, and art. There
are so many vendors that the Tori is situated at two locations; the
Heritage Center and the Methodist Church next door.
Just outside between the two buildings is the Family Fun Park, where the Wife
Carrying Contest and the Boot Throwing Contest are held.
There are
also Kicksleds and Vipukellkka (Whipsleds) for the children to
enjoy. The Finlandia Girls Hockey Team provide the power for the Whipsled.
Finlandia Art and Design students were also on hand. They were
demonstrating what they have been learning in their Fabric Art classes.
