Siegler Exhibit Opens at Finlandia University
HANCOCK - It has been 18 months since Jorden Siegler graduated From Finlandia University; that is when the Finlandia Alum graduated from the International School of Art and Design with a BFA degree. Yesterday, Jordan returned to a reception at the University’s Jutila Campus where he is  currently the featured artist in the Reflection Gallery.

Siegler’s exhibit "ContraPerspectives" opened on Monday, November 1st and will featured until November 27th.

Jordan is a very talented young artist with a fantastic imagination; and like many young artists, he looks to use recycled material in his art. Siegler in his current exhibit has taken recycled “lint” and used it to create his fiber art.

When he began his project he was frequently doing his laundry in order collect the lint. He soon discovered that he could not produce enough lint for his work and soon prevailed upon his friends to donate their lint for the cause.

In his exhibit he has created 24 shadow boxes of fiber art, each representing one year of his life. Combined the twenty four pieces represent the meeting of his child being to that of his adult being; a melding of his twenty-four years of life’s perspective. Siegler says that the show was developed through his exploration of and meditation on two perspectives separated by time. His exploration of the child's perspective and the adult's perspective has melded a fascinating exhibition.

“The lint pieces in this exhibit are a restoration, post-breakdown,” Siegler notes. “Lint is a cast-aside remnantof a violent process. I’ve built it into something that resembles its origin,
but is in no way the same and will never function in the way it would have prior to violence. Lint is purity lost. I am the shirt and pants, restored.”

The exhibit is concept-heavy and uses a collection of media and materials to tell a story. His exhibit includes more other recycled materials as well as the lint fiber art. Jordan also uses recycled Styrofoam and paint. He crumbles the Styrofoam and then reassembles it into his art pieces.

Also featured in this exhibit and pictured above is an art installation by Siegler. Below is the Installation he entered in the 2009 Diploma Works exhibit. The items in the installation were items taken from his apartment and installed in the exhibit, It seems that Jordan has uncluttered his life quite a bit since graduation.
