Saxon - August 3, 2009 The morning began with a Goldenaire's concert
under the pavilion , which later moved outdoors to the beergarten, Where
the group played some beer drinking songs, along with a variety of music
that the Corps is famous for. The concert began with the presenting
of the colors by the Corps Honor Guard. The Goldenaires wasted no time in
demonstrating why they are who they are. The group performed "The Star
Spangled Banner" which was arranged by Dan Patrone, Musical Director.
Regrettably, this was the first time that I have heard this
arrangement. Dan's arrangement the greatest arrangements of our National
Anthem, this writer has ever heard. I've played the song hundreds of times
in school, in the Marine Corps Fourth Division Band and numerous other
bands. Dan's version is simply the greatest. I know that's a lot of
superlatives and deservingly so! |
